Southern California Rover Club

Seth Glennie-Smith

Name: Seth Glennie-Smith
Vehicle: 2000 Discovery 2

Four years ago my electric Smart car lease ended and I bought a bone stock, 2000 Discovery 2 off of eBay.  I knew it was English, like me, and that was all.  After I won the auction, I googled the disco, and the first video that popped up was someone driving off a cliff, into a river and out the other side.  I had not considered that this would be an option for me, but I was excited.   My wife and I named the disco WOOOPSY, which sums up our ownership experience. No regrets.

The SCLR club has been a great resource for how to safely and responsibly explore the trails we have in Southern California. Watching experienced trail leaders navigate and following their lines is a valuable education that you can’t get from YouTube videos or going solo.  In addition to learning about new trails, the camping is always fun and the people are excellent.

I’ve been leading trails as a way to give back to the club and sharing some of the trails and camping spots that I have found on my own.  I would encourage everyone to do the same, it makes it more fun.
